Winter Baseball is Back… and Better than Before

Last year, we reintroduced our Winter Baseball program. It drew rave reviews as we were able to put together a strong program. This year Winter Ball is back, and we plan to build on last year’s success. The program is once again run by Dean Chamberlin (CFR alum and formerly of the Ottawa Knights).  This year’s program offers a larger gym with batting cages, 3 different types of balls for throwing exercises, rubber bases and other equipment to teach the proper positioning, thought process and rules of the game. President’s Message

Even though the seasons are changing and autumn approaches, we are turning our attention to the 2011 baseball season with the goal of improving our league for this year and subsequent years.

We have some major changes to the CFR Executive for 2011, with new people in most every seat. This is exciting as it give us an opportunity to look at how we operate the league and look for ways to make the Little League experience better for our players and parents.

We’ve started by setting 4 major priorities to guide our actions for 2011 to help make a stronger league. These are:

1.    Increase Enrolment. More players mean a stronger spring program with more teams and more opportunities for players.

2.    Improve Communication. Ensure parents, players, and coaches know what is happening in the league and receive timely information on events that impact them.

3.    Increase Sponsorship. As a not-for-profit organization with increasing costs, sponsorship and donations are critical to our ability to fund our operations.

4.    Emphasize Coaching and Player Development. Improving the overall talent level of all our players is good for CFR. And better tools for our volunteer coaches helps make better players.

By emphasizing these 4 areas we will make the CFR experience a better one for you and our players.

Finally, I want to thank those of you who volunteer. Our league could not function without the help of dedicated adult volunteers. Though we have a core of people willing to spend time on league, CFR needs everyone's help to make your child's experience with baseball as wonderful as it can be. There are a number of positions still vacant and need to be filled as soon as possible. Please don't wait for someone to approach you to get involved.  We are always looking for people to help.

Thank you,

Pete Loyen
President, CFR Little League

A Call for Volunteers

Though we have the core executive group for 2011, there are still numerous positions open and help needed as we start planning for our upcoming season. If you are interested in helping build a strong program for our neighbourhood children, please Contact us. We will gladly welcome your help.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Every year our league depends on local businesses to help cover operating costs through sponsorship of our league. If you know of a business that would be willing to provide financial assistance or donate goods or services to help our league, please contract our Director of Sponsorship.

Sincerely,

Your CFR Little League Executive

B
